Saké: America's Next Big Drink?
Saké, the traditional Japanese rice wine, is making waves in the US. Once seen as an exotic choice, it's now gaining popularity as a versatile and delicious drink. Much of this is owed to the growing American craft saké scene (cough Tsukisake) and the interesting flavors being dreamt up stateside.
As I get excited to see the band O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) on Friday at Red Butte Gardens, the best venue in Tsuki's home Salt Lake City, I can't help but think about the American saké revolution currently taking place. With new saké bars and breweries popping up across the country, it's clear that this ancient drink is gaining momentum. You don't have to look hard to find articles or reddit posts about saké being produced and consumed in the U.S.
Ready to experience the saké revolution for yourself? O.A.R at Red Butte is sold out, but they are on tour until November 17th. If you have tickets to Friday's show at Red Butte bring some pocket saké and a deck of cards to come find me!
